Stick drift
Stick drift is when a stick reports movement while nobody is touching it. A max offset under 0.03 is fine, under 0.08 is hidden by a typical dead zone, and 0.15 or more often makes characters or cameras move on their own.
A free gamepad tester that runs in your browser. Find stick drift, dead buttons and weak triggers in seconds. Connect a PS5, Xbox or Switch Pro controller and press any button.
Plug it in with a USB cable or pair it over Bluetooth, then press a button once. Browsers keep controllers hidden from a page until a button is pressed.
How to connect ↓Your browser does not recognize this controller as a “standard” gamepad, so the buttons on the picture may not match the real ones. Use “Raw data” below to check each input by number.
Buttons you have pressed stay yellow. Press every button once to find any that don’t respond.
With your hands off the sticks, measures for 2 seconds how far each stick sits from the center.

Measures how often new input reaches the browser while you keep moving a stick. Browsers have their own limits, so treat it as an estimate.
If your browser and controller support it, runs the rumble motors for 0.6 seconds.
Puts your results into one image. It is made on this device and goes nowhere unless you save or share it. Handy as a condition record when buying or selling a used controller.

READING THE RESULTS
Stick drift is when a stick reports movement while nobody is touching it. A max offset under 0.03 is fine, under 0.08 is hidden by a typical dead zone, and 0.15 or more often makes characters or cameras move on their own.
The dead zone is the area around the center that a game ignores. The tool adds a small margin to the measured offset. If your game lets you set a dead zone, use at least this value to hide the drift.
Rotate the stick along its edge to draw its outer shape. The average error is how far that shape is from a perfect circle. Under 8% is clean; 15% or more is uneven. A dent in one direction can mean friction or a worn part.
How often new input reaches the browser. Browsers read controllers at their own pace, so this can be lower than the controller’s real polling rate. It is most useful for comparing USB and Bluetooth in the same browser.
Pressed buttons light up on the picture. L2/R2 (LT/RT) show how far they are pressed from 0.00 to 1.00. If a trigger never reaches 1.00 when fully pressed, it is not registering its full travel.

FAQ
Q. My controller is connected but the page says “Looking for controllers”
Press any button once. Browsers hide controllers from a page until a button is pressed. If it still doesn’t appear, quit other apps such as Steam, or reconnect the cable or Bluetooth.
Q. How do I test my controller for stick drift?
Connect the controller, press a button, then click “Run drift test” and take your hands off the sticks. After a short countdown the tool measures for 2 seconds and shows the max offset, a verdict and a suggested dead zone for each stick.
Q. Which controllers and browsers does this gamepad tester support?
Any controller your browser recognizes as a gamepad: PS5 DualSense and DualSense Edge, PS4 DUALSHOCK 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S controllers, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and most generic USB or Bluetooth gamepads. It works in the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone and iPad.
Q. The result says drift. Is my controller broken?
A “slight offset” is normal on many controllers and is hidden by the game’s dead zone. For “mild drift” or “likely stick drift”, rotate the sticks a few times and test again. If the result is the same, consider repair or the manufacturer’s warranty.
Q. Can I test more than one controller?
Yes. Connected controllers are listed at the top so you can switch between them. Results are kept separately for each controller.
Q. I don’t see the vibration buttons
The vibration test only appears when your browser and controller support rumble (for example Chrome or Edge on a PC). It is not available in Firefox or most phone browsers.
Q. Can I also test my phone’s screen refresh rate?
Yes. Our smartphone app measures how smoothly your screen updates (60 Hz, 120 Hz and more). Get it on Google Play or the App Store.
